What is the difference between deactivating and deleting a block?
When you delete a block, the instance of that block type is terminated. To utilize that block type again, another instance must be created. When a block is deactivated, it can still be accessed. Once an instance is set up, it can be deactivated until needed without having to recreate all of the nuances of the original again.
Why aren't my right-side blocks appearing?
In most themes, the right-side blocks only appear for the index page, typically News. If you have trouble getting your right-side blocks to show your index module may be at fault. Change your index module back to News. If no right-side blocks are active, none typically show. Some themes allow you to view right-side blocks instead of left-side blocks by default, while others allow you to view both, and some even suppress side blocks altogether.
